Reading Boiler Room Launches

cavbap.jpgWe gathered on Saturday evening at Cav Baptist rather tired from a frantic couple of weeks trying to get the new Reading Boiler Room fit for people to come and pray in. Through the tiredness though, there was a distinct sense of expectation. We were relaunching, celebrating the new place God had given us to be, and expectant that he was going to speak.

Reading 24-7

It’s been a while since I’ve been writing this kind of thing through the achy eyes of a 24-7 Prayer rota duty manager. There really isn’t anything quite like a week of 24-7 Prayer to exhaust and electrify all at the same time! The new Reading Boiler Room has been open almost a week now, and the walls are crying out with praises and petitions to Jesus. Pieces on identity, God’s faithfulness, and heart felt cries for friends, families, and whole towns, where we desperately need to see Him move in power.
There’s not much left of our week of prayer now, and we’ve got the fatigue and elation to show for it! If you’d like to join us, the rota will run until 21:00 Saturday evening, and you can check out the remaining available slots here.
Lord, continue to reveal yourself to your people…

Mad as a brush

So, aparently if you’re American, and you see this sign, its a very funny thing.
And the whole ‘mad as a brush’ saying doesn’t translate too well either. Mad meaning angry rather than crazy and all.
We really should have taught those Americans English properly before the Boston Tea party had chance to happen. But maybe there was no hope in the first place. After all, who in their right mind would dump all that lovely tea into a harbour. They could have knicked it and drunk it at least…

Oh Happy Day

You know its been a good day when one of your friends turns to you and says, “You look happy, Pete. And you know, she was right. There are many frustrations in my life in lots of areas – personal, family, 24-7 – but I am happy. God is good. I’m feeling good… I can only hope that my current outlook on life lasts!

The Honourable Order of the Mustard Seed

HTCC.jpgIts Friday night, near Clapham, and I’m on a packed tube train. I guess most of the people with me are tired, at the end of a long working week, and I guess I am too, but that isn’t what’s on my mind right now.
I’m travelling to the first vow taking ceremony of the Honourable Order of the Mustard Seed, at least among my group of friends. Zinzendorf originally instituted the OMS several centuries ago, and it lead him to allow a small group of Moravian refugees to settle on his land. Later this same group would start an incredible 100 years of prayer, sending missionaries out all over the world.
