For a prayer movement, we’re way too busy. And the perpetual challenge of setting time aside to pray seems to be even more intense than usual right now. But I don’t want to complain – in only two more days, I fly off to the States for one whole, blissful month.
I’m quite good at taking fairly regular short breaks, but my trip to the US is my first long break for about a year. And boy do I need it!
Uncle Pete

After what has apparently become a ‘notorious’ birth amongst the midwives at Wycombe General Hospital (I’ll avoid the gory details!), young Charlie has left the comfort of the womb, and was busy charming the Ward and Fryer families this weekend.
Mother and baby are well, and I’m enjoying being an uncle!
I wish I brought my camera
Ever had one of those moments when you wish you’d brought a decent camera out of the house with you?
I had one of those moments this evening. There’s a great park about 15mins walk from my house, with fantastic views over Reading. As I walked, I noticed bonfire smoke passing through the trees, illuminated by the setting sun as it did so.
Truly a beautiful few seconds. Unfortunately the camera on my mobile phone wasn’t really up to the moment!

Technology Rant
I enjoy a good technology rant, and the levels of health and safety nonsense over wi-fi radiation have induced this little gem from Peter Cochran, ex R&D head at BT.
Enjoy…
What nicer way…
What nicer way is there to end a bank holiday weekend, than to spend the evening at home with a few friends and some good beer from your local micro brewery 🙂
Check out the pictures here.
24hr Prayer n Praise
I’ve just awoken from a far-too-short sleep after an amazing night of prayer and praise at my church, Greyfriars, here in Reading.
Our theme for Pentecost was ‘breathing in’ the presence and power of God’s Holy Spirit, and ‘breathing out’ that same transforming Spirit into our troubled world.
Cool Art

Just got my latest piece of part-time work in from Lin Kerr over at White Fire Brides. Having done some major updates to her White Fire Brides website, I’m updating her design website at Lin Kerr Design. She sent me the spec in an envelope with this picture on the front.
Very cool, I think!
Prayer for the Nation
Today I had the privilege of joining in prayer with around 20 Christians from the Department of Work and Pensions, Her Majesties Revenue and Customs, and the Treasury Solicitors! It was fantastic to be able to encourage the people in attendance with stories of the 33 24hr prayer meetings going on right at this moment around the world, as well as some of the amazing stories of God answering the prayers of his people.
Endurance
“Just grit your teeth and go the distance!” I said to myself as I entered the last kilometre before reaching my home.
Another half marathon distance, you ask? Nope, just 5k! OK, in my defence I’d gone at it fairly hard, but my first run since completing the Reading Half Marathon was hardly a convincing display of fitness.
Perhaps too much cakey goodness in the intervening period…
…I’ll need to get back to my training then.
