I’m sat here behind the sound desk (never too old to learn new skills!) on the third day of 24-7 Transmission ’06. We’ve had a good few days!
The first day was fairly low key, with team leaders arriving around lunchtime, and the rest of the Transmission delegates arriving in the evening. 24-7 Teams Director, Ian Nicholson, spent some time speaking about “Why Mission Today”, after which we retired to the wonderful café that the YWAM guys have set up for us in the back room of our venue here at Harpenden…

Transmission ’06
One for those praying types out there…
…please could you pray for me and the guys at 24-7 as we embark on another Transmission missions festival. Its not as big an undertaking this year as it was last year, but there’s still a lot that needs to go right, and a lot that could go wrong! Please pray for envisioned mission teamers and a great day discussing the future of the movement on Saturday.
I’ll attempt to post some updates while I’m there.
Thx! ;-)#
(Un)common Sense
This was sent through to me by Phil ‘Toggers’ Togwell, 24-7 Prayers UK Base Leader. Oh how I wish for more people with this perspective in the body of Christ! Its a long read, but its worth it…

Networking
Just had a great time at the latest 24-7 UK network day in Brum (Birmingham to foreign readers!). Phil Togwell had done his usual fantastic job of gathering people from all over the UK, and around 60 of us had a great time catcihng up and sharing about what God is doing all over our nations through 24-7. Andy Freeman shared about being a witness and 24-7 Communities, with some difficult messages about the costliness of testifying to our faith, and I had a great time catching up With Lyndall Bywater from the Salvation Army, talking about how we run 24-7 both now and in the future. For those that don’t know Lyndall, she has an amazing insight for all things organisational, and she really helped me think through some of the challenges that we have in organising ourselves in 24-7 – or trying to at least!
All in all a great day, happy memories and really useful too!
Car car no car…
I’ve been lucky enough over the past year and a half, to have had the privilege of looking after Ashley the Astra, a car loaned to me by friends Dave and Thea Green.
They’re coming back from Thailand soon, and so I’ll be returning Ashley to her rightful owners in May. I’d been thinking about what my future transport situation would be the other day, when I went through the following rather amusing situation.
First I was told that there may well be an opportunity for me to use a friend’s beat up old Metro for a while. While I was investigating that option, I was offered an old Cavalier from the end of March, fully MOT’d and ready to go. Of course I said yes! A few hours later, that offer had to be withdrawn due to an earlier miscommunication with another person. Then the metro option fell through as well.
All within 24 hours. Car, car, no car 😉
Maybe I’ll be using the old shoe leather more after all!
Reaching out
This entry was supposed to be an update on what’s happened so far this year, but if I wait until I have chance to get around to that, I’ll never write anything!
This weekend I was asked to share at church about an outreach we did the weekend before, and it got me thinking about how God spoke to me in what we were doing. For those that don’t know, Greyfriars is a town centre church, and we’re fantastically positioned for being able to reach out to those who come into the town centre to shop.
As I pondered, I think the biggest thing that struck me was how God blesses what we’re doing when we work together as the body of Christ.

Help!

For some reason the autumn and winter season is a particularly difficult time for 24-7 Prayer from a cashflow perspective. Over the last few years, as our annual appeal goes out, we struggle to meet our bills. Our testimony each year is that God has come through each time and enabled us to keep going, but we’re struggling a bit at the moment!
I’m not panicked by our situation, but its always good to let you know how we’re doing, so that you can decide whether or not to help out. I know that some of you reading this are already helping us massively already, so please don’t feel any pressure to give more than you do already, if that’s not what God wants you doing with the money He’s given you!
The following link will take you to our annual appeal piece that’s currently on the 24-7 Prayer website. Even if you aren’t in a situation to be able to give financially, or don’t want to give more than you do already, its quite an interesting read!

Spiritual Attack
There seems to be rather a lot of intense spiritual attack going on against those involved in 24-7 right now. In the last couple of weeks, several people have been having unusual nightmares (at least 3 people), people have had trouble sleeping, a couple of people are feeling undervalued, one person has been feeling extremely low for no apparent reason, several people are feeling disempowered, one person is being hassled by someone who won’t leave them alone, there’s been a car crash, and two people have had to go to hospital, resulting in one being hospitalised.
