Just had a top weekend at the Reading Festival! Hundreds of bands come to one of the biggest indie/alternative festivals in the world to ply their wares, and I found myself not disappointed with what was on offer.
I’ve been to the festival for most of the last 15 years or so, and this year was definitely one of the more memorable ones. Top performances for me this year were:
Muse
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Pearl Jam
TV on the Radio
Broken Social Scene
Muse and Pearl Jam particularly knew how to play the huge audience that constitutes the headline crowd at the festival. Their sets were an interesting contrast; Muse used some really interesting video screens and incredible pyrotechnics, whilst Pearl Jam put on a more traditional, but very effective, light show. Both were musically brilliant. I left to go home at the end of each evening a very happy punter.
Shirley was with me for the whole festival, and my brother and a couple of his mates joined us on Sunday. We just about managed to be on good behaviour 😉
Another of the towns regular appearances each festival is the FAITH tea bar, serving free breakfast and drinks to the festival goers from the Greyfriars Church car park. Shirley and I popped down on Saturday morning to help out, and its great to just show a bit of Jesus’ love and compassion to tired festival campers.
All in all, a great weekend of festivalling!
all I can say is each to their own, glad you enjoyed it. Just think of poor simon who had to work very late nights, sometimes into the early morning coping with the traffic
